Our beautiful Riverfront provides almost constant nature-watching and relaxation opportunities year-round, whether cruising down the waterway on a summer day, fishing from the banks of the new pier near Court Street, strolling along the Saginaw Riverwalk, or Ice Fishing in the Annual "Shiver on the River". You can also enjoy adventurous tours of one of the largest wetland ecosystems in Michigan, the Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge.
If you are looking to enjoy seasonal events, Saginaw has a plethora of great attractions, such as our winter Holidays in the Heart of the City, which features two days of family fun as Saginaw kicks off the Christmas season. Hoyt Park is home to the largest outdoor skating rink in the area, complete with a newly renovated warming house. In the summer, Saginaw showcases its amazing Fourth of July Fireworks event, with a spectacular show on Ojibway Island. More great summer entertainment in the form of great food and music comes with our WKQC Country Music Fest, also located on Ojibway Island, and our free summer concert series.
If you are looking for culture, Saginaw is home to many beautiful sites-such as the treasured Japanese Cultural Center and Tea House; and our historic Temple Theatre, which hosts many events throughout the year. More adventures await at the Mid-Michigan's Children's Museum and the Children's Zoo at Celebration Square, as well as our historic Castle Museum. If relaxation is on your mind, take a calming stroll along our riverfront through one of our many parks, such as Hoyt Park, Celebration Square, or Ojibway Island.
Be sure to also visit our Dow Event Center. The Dow is home to our very own The Saginaw Spirit Hockey Club, a member of the Ontario Hockey League, as well as the Saginaw Sting, a member of the Continental Indoor Football League. The Dow Event Center also hosts concerts and shows of all varieties throught the year. From Sesame Street on Ice to Cirque Du Soliel, Broadway shows, comedy, music and everything in between. The Dow Event Center has announced exciting news, their plans to build an outdoor event venue to host concerts, festivals and other events in downtown Saginaw, with a completion date of fall 2013.

Enhanced Law Enforcement Response to Victims Initiative:
The Saginaw Police Department is one of only three law enforcement agencies in the country that has been selected to participate in a unique program designed to help reduce crime, support victims, and enhance public safety. We ask that the residents of Saginaw participate in this anonymous survey being conducted by Saginaw Valley State University. Your participation will help the City of Saginaw Police Department expand its capacity to meet the needs of crime victims, and broaden those services where a need is indicated.
