JAMIE FORBES SWORN IN AS SAGINAW’S NEW CITY COUNCIL MEMBER
Saginaw City Council has appointed Ms. Jamie Forbes as the new City Council member to replace former council member Demond Tibbs.
Jamie Forbes was one of six applicants who were interviewed at the September 10, 2018 Committee of the Whole Meeting. Ms. Forbes was then appointed and sworn in at the Special Meeting held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. “It is an honor and a privilege to be selected for the council position,” said Ms. Forbes, who has lived in Saginaw for seven years. Jamie’s term on City Council will expire in 2020.
Jamie is currently the Director of Outreach and Program Development for STARS. Prior to her position at STARS, Jamie was the Community Organizer/Executive Director for the Ezekial Project in Saginaw. Jamie is very active in the Saginaw community, serving as a board member for Counter Culture Arts Collective, as well as on the board for First Congregational Church in Saginaw and as a board member for HealthSource. Jamie is also a member of the steering committee of The Great Mural Project which recently unveiled the colorful mural in Downtown Saginaw, and she was named one of MLive’s Saginawians of the Year for 2016.
