City Of Saginaw Awarded Certificate Of Achievement For Excellence In Financial Reporting
The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to the City of Saginaw by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAPR) for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2015. This is the seventh consecutive year that the City of Saginaw has received this honor.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR. The City’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports may be viewed on the web at Saginaw-mi.com or in the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall.
City Manager, Tim Morales, stated “I am pleased to announce that Saginaw has received the GFOA Certificate of Achievement for financial reporting for the seventh year in a row. I would like to congratulate city staff for all their hard work. The work performed by the Fiscal Services Department and the Office of Management and Budget may not be as visible to the community as work performed by other city employees, however it is just as vital to the stability and viability of our city. Our staff is very dedicated and diligent in their work to manage city finances. This recognition is well deserved and the staff is to be congratulated and commended."
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals throughout North America.
