City of Saginaw MI -

More than 200 volunteers are expected to join members of the Riverfront Development Commission at Crayola Park, 1915 Fordney, this Friday, May 18, 2018 for the 2018 Beautification Event. The event will kick off at 9:00 am with coffee, juice, and donuts. Clean up begins at 9:30 am and runs until early afternoon ending with lunch for all of the hardworking volunteers.

These volunteers are all focused on one mission: to BEAUTIFY Saginaw. Volunteers will work at Crayola Park, along the city bridges and throughout the Saginaw Riverfront performing greening and cleaning projects. They will remove weeds and litter, paint and plant hundreds of flowers maintaining investment in dock facilities for river access.

Since 2002, the Riverfront Commission has worked with local groups and volunteers to kick off the exciting summer season in Saginaw with a beautification event. What began as a small clean-up on Ojibway Island with a handful of volunteers has grown to a city-wide effort with many groups and individuals contributing to the cause. "There are so many wonderful and exciting events that take place on Ojibway Island and along our Riverfront throughout the summer. We realize that this is focal point for our city and we want everyone who visits this area to see the beauty of our Riverfront. Each year, this event grows more and more successful due to the support of our local sponsors and community groups. It really is amazing to see the impact we can make." Councilman Clint Bryant, 2018 Beautification Event Chairman.

Volunteers can still sign up on Friday, May 18 at Crayola Park at 9:00 am. Come early, enjoy some coffee and donuts, and spend the morning making a beautiful difference along the Saginaw Riverfront. Bring your own gardening gloves, tools will be provided.
