The Office of Management and Budget provides the oversight and management of the City's budget with a focus on accuracy, communication, and transparency. The City Charter specifies the budget as the responsibility of the City Manager. It is the tool by which the city administration translates its strategy into action and is the foundation for all strategic and management decisions. OMB also publishes the City Manager's proposed budget which is submitted to the City Council on the last Monday in April, in accordance with the City Charter. In August of each year, the OMB creates the approved budget document and submits it to the Government Finance Officers Association for consideration of its Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. This office has received this award each year since 2008.
